Another winter storm approaches Texas; ERCOT files several system plans & assessments, shows massive load growth in Dallas County; key Senate committee weighs in on large loads, and more
In this issue:
Winter weather is coming, ERCOT forecasting over 75,000 megawatt peak Tuesday morning;
ERCOT’s Regional Transmission Plan has eye-popping numbers for Dallas County data centers;
PUC issues biennial recommendations to the Legislature, includes emphasis on performance metrics for monopoly utilities;
Senate Business & Commerce Interim Report includes recommendations for additional regulation of large loads.
There were eight — yes, eight — important Texas grid reports dropped in the last two weeks of December: two were reports produced by the PUC for the Legislature; another is the Senate Business & Commerce Committee’s interim report, one was by ERCOT on demand response, and the other four are all ERCOT system assessments and plans, mostly related to transmission.
