Surging Texan electricity demand (and lagging supply) was a big issue in the first-quarter earnings season for merchant power producers and utilities.

The earnings season underscored a trend that’s emerged in the last three years and become particularly pronounced in recent quarters. Silicon Valley may be the hub of artificial intelligence software, but Texas is home to the AI infrastructure boom. A review of earnings growth rates and stock charts suggests the Texas market is where power corporations are experiencing the most growth and seeing the most opportunities.
